To get a driving license in Malaysia you must complete the KPP driver education course and pass both the computer theory test and the JPJ road test.
1. KPP01–KPP04 Course
The course has four phases: KPP01 (laws and regulations), KPP02 (vehicle handling), KPP03 (practical) and KPP04 (test preparation). Full attendance is mandatory before you can sit the tests.
2. Computer Theory Test
The theory test is computer-based at JPJ or approved centres, covering road rules, signs and safety. You answer 50 questions in 50 minutes and need a minimum of 42 to pass.
3. JPJ Road Test
The practical test includes vehicle inspection, circuit manoeuvres (S and Z curves, parking) and on-road driving. Common faults: not signalling, not checking mirrors, and harsh braking.
